Microsoft is not likely to take over, Google is slowly but surely moving way ahead of them.
Guess what, Google seems to have waged a war against this deal and might be outlining legal options of helping some bidder/s win over MS's bid to take Yahoo private.
Once private Yahoo's new owner/s could outsource all Yahoo's major services to Google, a move that would loosely translate to Google's monopoly all the way then.
Google cant bid directly as they simply wont win anti trust litigation against any such deal.
@Amit My wishes are always with you, an SEO buff you naturally stand a good chance at these contests.
As an aside, people are either not paying attention or somehow its not clear enough that I'm not just post 'em, I'm making 'em. You might be able to help me with this issue.
If Yahoo s going private whos gain is it? Surely not people's who are in love with all things Yahoo, flickr n stuff. Your cartoon is good, and I did notice that you are the bugger who makes 'em ;) didn't check all of 'em though.
We've started Office 07 and there are so many features that are a blatant ripoff of google's products Strange, yet comforting for easy transition at least.
Thanks Rads :) And as for Office 07's features, you said it. Say the rate at which Google is growing, they might soon be entertaining thoughts of acquiring MS, what? Off course it will then be a question if they are worth acquiring. Not given to hyperbole, but somewhere amongst these whims I fancy to chance upon a quip for a next cartoon you see ;)
Well Pat, this is worth mentioning here, if I'm able to recall correctly it was Jerry's jibe -on himself- such is the humility of this young unassuming billionaire, that in Yahoo the joke is that he's been right about hardly anything lately. This certainly puts Yahoo in the light where one might say, Yahoo has peaked to its capacity or that it looks out of sorts under Jerry. But I see it as Jerry's bad patch more than that of Yahoo's and under him Yahoo does look like having hit the dead end.
MS knows Yahoo would have so much more to offer with a more aggressive (read MS) or smarter (read Google) leader at helm harnessing its vast advantages of being an early starter. Yahoo's IT resources today are overwhelming and are next only to MS. The fact that Google is after Jerry as well speaks volumes of Yahoo's but dormant potential.
They certainly are insurmountable giants in the realm of email services and IM, add to that what Google so rightly calls the 'third page' real estate, flickr, pipes, answers and plethora of other goodies that people've so gotten used to.
MS, first time since its inception, would even borrow to keep Yahoo out of any other suitor's hands, and I'm not surprised one bit.
As an aside I think the phrase "third page" is still sinking in and its too early to use it as an expression and expect to be followed in the right spirit, an explanation is in order!
Google's search page, today, is the fist page most internet users start their surfing sessions with, which makes more often than not the search results page the second page they land on. But that's it as a click on any search result would oft take the user to 'content', not Google's long suit as of yet but instead dominated by content giants like Wikipedia, Answers.com, Yahoo Answers etc. When Google launched Knoll, this expression was coined to point to Google's intent on controlling of the third page as well.

It is funny :), but I don't want Microsoft to take over. It will just stifle innovation.

murjhate hain wo phool,
jo oos ki chuuan se khile the kabhi...
hum to bas khilne ke khwaab dekha kartein hai...
yeh to neend se jaga diya hume duniya ne...
warna khwabon mein khilna kya kam hai?
Hi there!!
Now the updated news is that Yahoo has rejected the Microsoft's offer complaining to be very low.
So, the new words war is likely to start between them.
Let's read the updated news at Microsoft's $44 billon offer to Yahoo Rejected
bhaanu help me out here. do you not think yahoo has reach its peak ceiling of growth. if so what would microsoft want with them?

@SheTell
Heard this one?
Shaam se Aankh me nami si hai,
Aj phir aap ki kami se hai.
best sher I guess
Waqt rukta nahi kahin rukkar
Iski adat bhi aadmi si hai.
I fell in love with this one
tu nahi gham nahi
sharaab nahi
aisi tanhai ka
jawab nahi
Jane kis kis ke
maut ayi hai
aaj rukh par
naqaab nahi
...
Har karam
ungliyon pe ginte hain
Zulm ka jinke
kuch hisab nahi
...
Very apt depiction of the situation.
